We promote literacy and essential skills in the home, community and workplace Island-wide. We raise awareness of the issues and impacts of literacy and essential skills on individuals and our Island as a whole through partnerships, presentations, events, workshops, media relations and social media.

We support professionals in the literacy field through presentations and workshops that support educators, counsellors, health professionals, and employers. We conduct research and work with our local government to identify gaps in literacy services. We also offer plain language and clear design editing services.

We deliver programs that support adult learners, families, and children so they can increase their literacy and essential skills.

We believe in creating a culture of literacy and learning where all Islanders can succeed, develop their skills and contribute to the prosperity of our Island.

Improving Literacy Creates...

Literacy is a fundamental skill. Currently 43% of working age Islanders lack the reading and writing skills needed to participate fully in our knowledge economy. We must work together to create a culture of literacy and learning for our Island to prosper.
