Ready, Set, Learn!

Jessie Bowness with student Myles Smith.
The Summer Tutoring Program for Kids
helps close to 800 students every summer.

Formerly known as the Summer Tutoring Program for Kids, Ready, Set, Learn! provides literacy supports that mitigate summer learning loss and keep students engaged in learning year round.

The program aims to cultivate a love of learning in young students by developing their literacy and numeracy skills, and building self-confidence. Our goal is to give children on PEI, with a special focus on integrating newcomer children, the supports they need to reach their full academic potential.

The program will now provide free tutoring to over 700 children in grades K-6 in public libraries across PEI during the summer months and free PD Day Camps to children in Charlottetown for the 2017/2018 school year on a pilot basis. Our goal is to expand the camp days to other communities in the future.

Students must be referred by a resource teacher. We work with resource teachers to identify children who would benefit most from the program. We do not accept referrals from parents.
